Stop Smoking!

Stop Smoking - Create The Reality!

You have surely noticed that we didn’t use a term like “How to Quit Smoking” as the title of this site. The reason for this is simple:

It’s not difficult to quit smoking. People do this every day.

Unfortunately, very few people are able to remain smoke free for any effective length of time. This is, in my opinion, due to their failure to create the proper reality around their decision to drop the habit of smoking.

Smoking is one of the most powerful addictions known to our society. You have probably already discovered just how difficult it is to break the physical, psychological, and emotional chains of this chemical dependency.

Many people who first try to quit smoking are amazed by the awful withdrawal symptoms they experience. Dizziness, confusion, anger, extreme depression, and nausea are just a few examples of what smokers can expect to go through as their body rids itself of nicotine.

Moreover, individuals who are able to get through the initial period of physical detoxification are often flabbergasted to find themselves smoking another cigarette after being smoke-free for a few days. “How the hell did this happen?” they often wonder.

When a person becomes addicted to a substance, every fiber of their being will strive to keep that substance in the bloodstream. When you first stop smoking, your body will panic at the loss of nicotine and other chemicals that have become a ‘normal’ part of your system. And your subconscious mind will begin working right away to convince you that another cigarette is somehow justifiable. From a scientific point of view addiction is fascinating, but from the perspective of someone who simply cannot stop participating in an activity that is killing them chemical dependency is a truly horrible ailment.

In order to quit for good, you have to make your desire to be smoke free very tangible. Being smoke free has to be more than an idea; it must be a reality that you can feel in the marrow of your bones.

Every reality begins with a conscious or sub-conscious projection. Our state of mind is an enormous factor in the determination of our physical circumstances.

The U.S. National Institute of Science released a report in 2003, which confirmed the theory that positive thinking can actively improve an individual’s immune system. Similar research has proven that visualization exercises can assist in the process of weight loss and muscle gain.

For centuries, students of the martial arts have been taught to strike ‘through’ a target by visualizing their punch or kick passing beyond the point of impact. The results of this type of conscious projection can be seen at your local karate studio as practitioners crush boards and bricks with their bare hands and feet.

Athletes are often trained to project positive results with their minds before they execute a physical technique. Ask the best basketball player you know if he or she visualizes their shots on the court before letting go of the ball; most likely they will answer yes.

You should stop reading right now and take a minute to visualize yourself being free of your nicotine dependency. Imagine yourself in the near future without the constant cravings to smoke and even being able to turn down a cigarette that is offered to you.

Don’t gloss this over!

This suggestion is based on legitimate experience and provable scientific fact. So take just a minute right now to project a positive, tangible image of you being free of your addiction and no longer having any desire to smoke.

See it, feel it, and believe it. Know without a doubt that what you are visualizing is real.

You will need to keep this projected reality foremost in your mind as you progress through the first stages of smoking cessation. We are what we think, and if you tell yourself often enough that you are smoke free, this reality will manifest.

The following sections will outline a simple, effective approach to smoking cessation. Read with an open mind and honestly apply these concepts, and you can beat your addiction to nicotine.
